An industrial company based in Houston, Texas, specializing in turnkey metal building construction and steel fabrication. They manage projects comprehensively, from permitting and concrete foundations to engineering and erection services, delivering high-quality commercial steel buildings, metal homes, and storage facilities.
To support their expanding operations, they are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator.
Key Responsibilities: • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors. • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project. • Assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
Qualifications: • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role. • Familiarity with financial and project management principles. • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles. • Proficient in relevant software (e.g., Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid). • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. • Well-organized and reliable. • A degree in engineering, construction science, or a relevant field is preferred. • Certification as a Professional Estimator (CPE) or a similar qualification is a plus.
